Sustainable Floristry

Our mission is to help improve the health of the earth by implementing sustainable practices into our structural operations. Our goal is to be a fully zero-waste floral business with our own organic flower farm some day.

What does it mean to be a sustainable florist?

The top three toxic industry traits we adamantly work to eliminate

After working in the floral industry for over 5 years, we have witnessed an array of different ways to operate. Taking notes on all of the good vs toxic aspects of the industry.

Floral Foam

Floral Foam is plastic-based and full of toxic & carcinogenic compounds that can compromise the well-being of humans. Floral Foam breaks down into micro-plastics that are not biodegradable. We have found beautiful, cleaner ways to design and operate completely floral foam free.

Excessive Waste

The waste in the floral industry is one of the most unspoken about toxic practices. Most floral comes wrapped in plastic packaging or boxed up and always rubber banded together. We reuse the plastic and boxes for as long as we can and when we can no longer repurpose it, we recycle.

Our Natural Dye fashion line helps combat many of the waste issues as we save all of our excess flowers for dyes and rubber bands for the bundle dye techniques. We compost any florals that we cannot use for dyeing.

Mindfulness of Sourcing

The lack of organically grown flowers is a major issue in the industry. Our love for using tropicals is very disheartened by this fact because we are aware of the carbon footprint it takes for them to get to the US. Pesticides are used on 99% of flowers that you will find at any flower market around the US.

With this awareness we buy only as we see necessary to create our vision and we save our tropicals, allowing them to dry out and be reused for dried arrangements. When possible, we love to support local organic flower farms as well as growing our own to use in our designs which eliminates all packaging and excess issues.
